The obelisk (แต้ม)
The church of St. Barbara is in the village of Pllana and is dedicated to the 4th century martyr St. Barbara. It was built in the 14th century and is a cultural monument of the first category. The church is illuminated by 7 arched windows and one is circular. The church has various frescoes painted where we mention Saint George, Saint Michael and Saint Catherine of Alexandria. These frescoes date to the 15th century and are in Byzantine style.It was reconstructed in December 2020. An obelisk is placed at the entrance of the church, which commemorates the opening of the first Albanian school in Pllana by the Catholic Church in 1638. This church has also served as a school where the Albanian language and reading were teaching.

On the second floor are exhibited photographs that show the history of this church over the years. This shows the olden times of this church, the priests who have served and its reconstruction.
The cemetery (แต้ม)
The cemetery around the church belongs to the inhabitants of the village where according to tradition the graves belong to the church.
Icon of st. barbara (แต้ม)
The icon of St. Barbara shows her crowned with her virginity and martyrdom, and ornately dressed. Like other martyrs, she holds a cross. Her feast is celebrated on December 4. Throughout history, countless miracles have occurred in the place where Barbara proclaimed the faith to her father.

The church is illuminated by 7 arched windows where as one of them is circular. The church has frescoes where we mention the fresco depicting St. James and St. Veneranda placed next to each other.

The village of Pllanë is located on the right bank of the river Mat, as soon as the river descends to the plain, it is the ideal place for settlement and living. At the top of Pllana is the important Church of St. Barbara which along with other churches scattered throughout the valley. In the folk ensembles of Lezha, the folk costume of Pllana was easily visible with the colors of white and yellow beads, and with the gorgeous embroidery of the neckline and the fantastic shirts.
